62 Computer Science Co-op Placements for Summer 2010
Thursday, April 29, 2010 10:36 AM

This matches an all-time record!

These numbers demonstrate the support our program receives from local, national, and international employers and the tremendous committment of our students.

The group includes nine students participating in their first co-op term, six in their second, and 47 in their final. Fifteen students have accepted positions outside of Winnipeg, as close as Altona, and as far as Japan and Taiwan.

Our students that choose to apply for positions outside of Manitoba compete with students from universities much larger than ours. They are very successful, which results in placements with employers like RIM (Research in Motion - Waterloo & Ottawa), EA (Electronic Arts - Burnaby & Montreal), IBM (Toronto & Ottawa), and Triumf (Vancouver).

For the first time in many years we have cooperated with the Canada-Japan Co-op Program, hosted at the University of British Columbia. One of our students was successful in securing a 12 month position with ATR (The Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International) in Kyoto, Japan.

Thanks to one of our professors in Computer Science, Dr. Baltes, another of our students will be spending his summer work term in Taiwan. He will be the main software developer for a robotics education kit targeted at elementary and junior high school students.

The positions are as diverse as our students! Please refer to our Current Employer page for the list of employers who posted positions with us for the Summer 2010 Work Term. We are honoured and pleased to be working with each one of these employers and thank them for their committment to our program and our students.
